An Indian Wedding Celebration

This cake was such fun to do. As you can see the top cake is heavily decorated with sugar flowers and finished with a ball of fresh roses. The mud cupcakes are embossed fondant topped with more flowers. To finish the look the bride and groom chose a small figurine.

Making Sugar Roses

In last night's class we started to make our roses. These are the rose cones I prepared ahead so that we could get through plenty. And we did! We started two tea roses, made petals for a dog rose, made leaves and our own rose cones. Well done girls! Next week I will post our creations.

Sarah's Wedding Cake

This is Sarah's wedding cake. Her bridesmaids were wearing a dark teal blue and carrying pink roses in their bouquet's. We came up with this combination after looking at lot's of different styles. The cake looked beautiful on location in the restaurant with rose petlas scattered over the cake table.

Ballerina Class

This is the ballerina class in action! All of the students did an amazing job. They now know how to use a garret frill cutter and how to model a figure as well as various finishing techniques. It is a great topper for girls of all ages and can either be eaten ( not after all that hard work I hope), or will keep for birthdays to come.

cupcakes for Ethan

Is it just me or is it harder to decorate cake for boys? When in doubt go for stars and bright colours. And of course, we all love to see our name in print!

We teach a class on fondant techniques for cupcakes if you fancy this look and want to learn how.

Our Little Protege

Yes this is Greta, next in line to the Sweet Deliveries throne! She is third generation cake chick and very good!
Greta has grown up around cooking, baking and creating. She is very confident when it comes to creating a meal and absolutely loved Masterchef (as did we).
I encourage you to turn a blind eye to the mess and allow your children to experiment in the kitchen. It helps to develop their confidence and intuition when it comes to creating great food.

CUPCAKE DAY!

Today is RSPCA Cupcake day. All around the country people are buying cupcakes to raise funds for this worthy cause. These would have to be without doubt the most special. The Midwives at Westmead Hospital put together snaps of their gorgeous pets and had us create personalised cupcakes for them. I don't know how they will eat them they are so cute!

Ganache

What would the world be without ganache? It is rich, velvety, glossy and oh so easy to use!
Ganache transforms a sweet little cupcake into a sumptuous treat. I keep it simple. Equal parts chocolate and cream. Bring the cream to bubble stage and remove from the heat. Stir in even sized chocolate pieces. My favourite part is the stirring. Watching the cream gradually become brown and then....suddenly, I have a bowl filled with molten bliss! I like to cover my ganache and leave it at room temperature overnight, but if you are short of time you can pop it into the fridge. The rest is up to you!

piping flowers

Life has been a little hectic since Thursday night's piping class! I apologise for being a little behind with the blog :)

As you can see the girls did a great job creating pretty little flowers with their piping bags. After plenty of practice we piped pretty pink flowers onto chocolate ganached cupcakes to take home.

Monday Night Cupcake Class

Once again we had fun decorating our cupcakes last evening. Laura has sent a very nice comment which I thought I would share with all of you. Thank you Laura,

"Hello Ladies, I just wanted to say a BIG thanks for the fantastic cupcake classes. I"ve taken the rest of the year class schedule, and made some copies and attached your cards to them for the girls at my gym, who just went nuts over the cakes last week, can't wait for today's reaction, I think they may faint. LOL

Thanks for being such wonderful ladies and making us feel like family, not just a body in a class. Can't wait for the cupcake tower cake class, and the Christmas classes!
Lots of love Lauraxxx

Melissa's wedding cake

This is Melissa's wedding cake. Her colours were purple and platinum and her bouquet contained Arum Lillies. We hand made the arum lily spray for the top of the cake and also made tiny little arum lillies to go on top of the cup cakes. The cake looked stunning as the centre piece of the room. The chairs had white covers with the same colour purple sash as the ribbon on Melissa's cake. Perfect!

Richards Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated my husband Richard's birthday. He is an avid photographer has waited patiently for a special flash for his SLR. Garry created this very funy top to go on top of the cake.

We had to go gluten free as our sister in law is gluten intolerant. Fortunatley our Praline is both free of gluten and tastes sensational. It was so popular I didn't even get a piece!

forget-me-nots

How cute are these little orange flowers?! I added the purple just because I love purple and orange teamed together. And of course the picture is shot on my pride and joy....yes it is a genuine 1950 something laminex table. We are stocking the range of forget-me-not's in four gorgeous clolours. They are great for cupcakes as well as adding a little vintage to big cakes!

Pink and Green

Isn't amazing how some colours just "work" together? I am a big fan of pink and green on a cake. Renae's cake is a great example. We made it for her 40th birthday celebration. Renae is the only female in her house (excluding the dog!) and so something very pretty was in order.

VINTAGE STYLE

My friend Carolyn wanted something that encapsualted her passions to be expressed in her birthday cake. She loves quilting, vintage and japanese culture. This is what we created for her.

She loved it!
